Zylom, the Dutch game website, had a record number of visitors in October. Over two million unique visitors found their way to their free word and puzzle games website in the Netherlands.

Simple online games, also known as casual games, are becoming more and more popular. Due to, amongst other reasons, the rise of broadband internet, Zylom has experienced massive growth recently. And those that think only boys are into games, are wrong. Women particularly like to play an online game once in a while. Over 80% of all site visitors are female.

Not only has the number of visitors increased, these visitors also play more. 70% of all visitors play every day. One third of the visitors say they watch less television because they play Zylom games.

Zylom, founded in Eindhoven in 2001, was acquired by the American RealNetworks Inc in February of this year. Last month, Zylom finished second in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50; the yearly election of the fifty fastest growing technology companies. Next to that, Zylom is nominated for the Website of the Year 2006 award. Zylom has won this prize in her category in 2004 and 2005.
